About Me
If you have reached this little about me section, HEY HEY Y'ALL, my name is Alicia (Ah-lee-see-ah). I love everything and anything to do with Black excellence, community activism, philanthropy, family sustainability, & plants.
I am a 29-year-old, Afro-Latina momma with a B.A. in Sound Engineering and Fashion Design from Ball State University. In 2017, I managed a workroom for two years and had a leather upholstery side hustle. After receiving praise from local interior designers about my craftsmanship, I began my home-based workroom in Indianapolis. I am now successfully approaching my fourth year as a business owner, with six years in the trade.
More about my business:
Hazel Slate is a textiles fabrication workroom. My specialty is modern window treatment fabrication. I love my residential clients, but my focus is towards custom commercial products. Honey, I am where the money resides.
Primarily, I am a subcontractor for designers. However, you can find my custom interiors in the 2019 Indianapolis Home Show Centerpiece Home, 2021 St. Margaret's Decorators Showhouse Indy, High Alpha in the Bottleworks District, the Test Kitchen in Fishers District, the meditation rooms in Salesforce, the women's ward of Ascension St. Vincent Fishers Hospital, and more.
In Fall 2020, I received the "20 UNDER 40 Awards" and appeared in the Window Fashion VISION magazine. I returned in Summer 2021 to serve as a judge for their annual VISION Design & Workroom Competition. It is only up from here!
Don't hesitate to reach out for a collab or just a chat, my company will be everywhere soon.
